None of the 6 are worth a vote. I would say back to the drawing board DealDotCom. They all suck the big and I mean BIG (as in humongous) WAZOO!
I sure hope you have not pinned your marketing on one of these and have an out where you can say, in Oliver Twist fashion, ‘May I have some more?’

All of the six are pathetic. I can’t believe that anyone would consider using any of the six videos for advertising.
Of the six choices, I believe that number 6 shows the most creativity, thought, and effort. I don’t think it’s great or satisfactory but at best, the people who made the video did something different.
The judges at Dealdotcom.com should be replaced. If the six choices are the best pick they could come up with, the contest must be fixed.

johnnajack, have you considered that maybe not many people took the initiative to make a video and they didn’t have a lot to choose from ;). People like to ask for freebies and contest but always seem less likely to take part when they do come up.
I haven’t watched the vids yet but good job to those that took the time to make an entry. At the very least you didn’t have too much competition since everyone is always so busy or lazy (I was busy and lazy lol).
PS Support Minions, any updates on the last Saturday support email winners? Are you going to continue doing that?

I’ll vote for #6
Good ideas and both charcters seem fairly comfortable in front of the camera.
I dont think I would use it for advertising but it does give others a look at the competition before the next video challenge if there is one.
That would give the critics a chance to put up or shut up.

I think that many comments here are unproductive. I agree that I would not use any of these videos for advertisement, but each one had, at least, one element that had potential. All of them should at least be given credit for trying. So many negative comments, but did you all make any effort to do anything???
If it were me making decisions here, I would start again. No disrespect to anyone, just not the quality that would be needed to give dealdotcom a great marketing hit. So, now that the few took the risk and we all have a better idea of what might and might work, see if someone can come up with something that would be a big hit with greater appeal to the masses.
I know that the Minions are hard to beat for creativity but I really think that it can be done. It would also be better for dealdotcom, all around, if those who are members would raise their standard for commenting to helpful, rather than sarcastic or just downright juvenile. I feel like I am sitting in a room with a bunch of my 16 year old son’s friends. I would hope to believe that the majority of the members here are living above the level of a teenaged boy. (No disrespect to teenaged boys intended)
What do you say Minions, could you do another round of videos to see if someone can come up with something that would work better for your purposes?

I think everyone who sent in a video deserves to be recognized and rewarded for taking an initiative.
I liked the humor in Ad #6, but I probably wouldn’t use any of the videos as the final ad.

Thanks to all that had positive things to say. Concepts I understand where you are comming from. I agree that it’s not something that could pass for marketing, but it was out-of-the box thinking, and not a parody production.
MrCarter, I appreciate your honesty and candor. Can you belive, only six of us even submitted an entry?

I definitely wouldn’t use any of those videos as a promo myself.
However, if I had a gun to my head and was forced to vote I’d give it to the dumpster diver.
Extend the deadline a day or so and I’ll make some killer stuff.
Kudo’s to anyone who actually did submit, even if I didn’t really like.

RedMatrix, I did like your approach. I’m not even sure what I would do if I had the know how to create a video and put it up. Claymation would be cool, but it would take a long time and I don’t know how to do that either.
Just like most things, a good start, some time to make adjustments and great things happen. I hope you do enter another one if they decide to extent the contest.

support minion, I meant for the Saturday from two weeks ago. There was no winner chosen and quite a few good entries. I’m curious which fits with dealdotcoms sense of humor most. Hope you guys continue it as it is fun to read all the entries.

Seems there was some confusion here at the DealDotComplex. Alot of the entries were VERY good, and most of them made us laugh out loud (or, LOL, as you internet types always say.)
The winner was jesterfx, and some Support Minions didn’t think it was fair for the same person to win twice in a row. Those of us with more brains realized that that would be like saying “Since the Houston Texans won in week 1, it wouldn’t be fair for them to win again in week 2″.
Once it was agreed among us who won, it fell upon Beenie the Intern to post the winner. Being that Beenie is anything but reliable, he dropped the ball.
On behalf of the entire DealDotCom crew, please accept our apology for screwing yet another thing up.
jesterfx - you’ve got 100 DealDotCom bucks now. Keep this up and Marc will be calling you offering you our job…

So what happens to the leader in this contest? Are they out of luck because a bunch of people complained about the quality of the videos? People are given a second chance to submit a video when they didn’t follow the contest rules to begin with? I’m glad I’m not one of the six in the contest before a second round was suddenly declared.

Hold a NEW contest, don’t change the rules on a contest that is supposedly already over.
If that’s what you’re doing here, then shame on you - how unprofessional.
If you are in fact creating a new contest, then you did a very poor job of explaining this in the email.

SM, I don’t mind the slowness of the prize awarding thing, but can we get an Official “Congratulations” post?
I was pretty much devastated when that email alluded to having and extension on the contest that I was currently in the lead. My sister (in the video) and I are pretty anxious for an official ruling. Thanks.
