Want $1000 from DealDotCom?
September 20, 2007
We (the humble peons here at DDC) want to put a quick $1000 in your pocket.
Yes, I said *1000* bucks.
(… and don’t worry, you won’t have to get nude on camera or anything).
Well, you can if you really, really want to. But, it’s not required.
Anyhoo, keep reading for details…
While grabbing a quick (45 minute) smoke break in the parking lot this morning, I was chatting with a couple of my co-workers.
One of them said, “Ya know what we need dude?….. a DealDotCom infomercial”.
My response: “Yeah right genius. What’s that cost… like 15 grand?!?”
Then, as I continued to look real cool sucking on my Marlboro Light… Ureka!
IT HIT ME!
What if… our members could show us a little “lovin” and help us out (again) using their creative talents.
What if… YOU could lend us your creative ‘mojo’ and create a DealDotCom infomercial for us?
What if… we held a contest and gave away 1000 bucks to the best infomercial?
Yes, YES… that’s it!
Everyone’s got a web cam these days, right?
(… Except in Arkansas. Ok, you are excluded.)
Can you whip up a low budget 1 to 5 minute infomercial that advertises DealDotCom?
And to make this really fun, we put together a little contest.
We could call it… DealDotCom Idol
>>> You want the $1000 grand prize? <<<
(… that’s 1000 bucks to buy whatever you want on DealDotCom)
Note: We will probably have a few nifty runner- up prizes too.
Ok, here is what you need to do:
Step 1: Hook up your web cam (or video recorder) and shoot a video.
WAIT… not just any video. Make it outrageous, funny, off the wall, and *disturbingly* entertaining.
Because… the most ‘creative’ video will win the main prize.
But, most important… “Sell” the world on why you LOVE DealDotCom.
Note: If you look and sound like Walter Cronkite (with the sense of humor to match), you might wanna pass on this contest.
I’m just sayin’
But, if you’ve got even a teeny ounce of creativeness in your body, go and shoot your best DealDotCom infomercial.
Then…
Step 2: Upload your video to YouTube.
(… Hey we don’t have the capacity to stream all these video. Might as well ride off of Big G’s back — those guys have millions to burn.)
Before you upload your video however, please make sure that…
1. You use DealDotCom in the title when you submit it to YouTube
2. You include your full name within the video itself or within the video description/title when you submit it.
Step 3: Send an email to…
contest [at] dealdotcom.com
…and include the link to your YouTube video and your full name and your DealDotCom user name.
Step 4: Sit back, pat yourself on the back, crack open a can of Strawberry Fanta (or ‘SF’ as well call in around here)… and relax.
Job well done!
*** Hurry… the deadline for DealDotCom infomercial YouTube video submissions is:
>>> Thursday Sept, 27th at midnight <<<
Then, we will narrow it down to the final 10, and let YOU vote to decide who the winner is!
You see, it's just like the "real" Idol show.
I'm looking forward to checking out some of your *crazy* videos.
Thank you for supporting (and helping out) DealDotCom. If you didn't, who knows if anything would get done around here.
Ready, set, ACTION. We're ROLLING in 3...2...1.
(I know the lingo. I used to work as an Extra on Knight Rider — long before Hasselhoff became a boozer.)

Deadline is 7 days? Are you kidding me! I work for a living… don’t have time. Argh. I got the means, the know-how, but no time. Great.

Ok RedMatrix.. what time frame is good for you. I am not making any promises but let us know.

I’m with RedMatrix, 7 day deadline is kinda tight. Minions with a lot of time on their support system to play with might be able to do it on one of those 45 minute smoke breaks while bangin’ back an SF, but dog, get real, some of us only get to play after work not during!

I don’t have the know how. I am a newbie but will ask around. I love doing this kind of thing. My grandkids are great helpers! Need more time.

I cant wait to see who the winner of this contest will be. I am looking forward to an “Average Joe” winning the grand prize. I love when average people succeed because it makes a greater impact on people.
As soon as we have a winner I would love to link to it on my blog called,
“Web 2.0 - Internet Marketing News 7 Tips For Average Joe’s” http://www.InternetMarketingForAverageJoes.com it is full of tips resources for beginners.

Mr Minion,
Thanks for asking for my opinion. It means a lot. I think the bare minimum deadline (for best results) should be two weeks, with a wish-list time of four weeks being better.
However, an end-of-month deadline isn’t too far a stretch, so I nominate the deadline be the 30th, Sunday night.
Also, I may have the means (camcorder & software) and know-how (minor editing), but an idea is fleeting to me atm.
Could we have some guide lines, please?

I can live with extending it a few days… and for ideas… one of my favorite commercials is…
just think off the wall

I have to admit,”That sure is a,’nutty’ infomercial (pun definitely
intended)! If we use that as part of our guidelines, we’re really in
for WP’s (wacko productions).
All the participants in these coming videos will be acting out roles
of different style NUTS. That’s why, when they are all placed into
one bag, it has to be labeled,”Mixed Nuts”.
Thank you for taking the time to read this critic’s movie revue. Jc.
