DealDotCom WordPress Plugin - Beta
September 18, 2007Once again I am amazed by you all… I just received an email from a member of DealDotCom that took time out of their schedule to create a WordPress plugin for DealDotCom!
Now this is a little warning - this plugin is Beta and I have not had time to really check it out but my eyes are crossed from exhaustion right now and we “YOUR” loyal and extremely good looking support minions are so pleased with this effort that we just had to mention it.
“IT”
There I did it.
Oh ya and you can get the plugin at…

Here is what the plugin looks like after it is installed…

September 19th, 2007 at 1:03 am
This was crazy fast!
Shall we call him SpeedyDotCom?
I have already made a post about it on my blog at http://www.widgets-blog.com
Thanks man!!!

I have the border colour set to white and the text colour set to blue but I get grey borders and black text.
Any ideas?

hahaha…you’re lucky to be getting anything! Dude needs to widgitize this thing so dummies like me can implement this thing. I am definitely better at wheel barrel operation. (dont worry! I’m licensed).
Can anyone figure this beast out?
I have activated, gone into php code and placed in side bar, and…
TA DA! nuttin!
Clues anyone?
September 19th, 2007 at 3:40 am
Ta Da! 3 hours later and by gosh I’m standing proud. Yep, she’s finally working and I couldn’t be prouder than if I were Barney Fife.
HOWEVER, and I’m too tired to figure it out right now, but when I deactivate the plug in, none of my posts will display. NONE OF THEM. Poof! Gone! Turn the plug in back on and it works fine.
One other peculiar thing is on the authors website, I cannot leave a comment due to errors in the comments code. How ironic!

Nice plugin, managed to get it working OK on my blog http://www.fastwealthnetwork.com/blog
Just one thing though, at the moment the deal of the day is WPAffiliatePro but picture showing is yesterdays deal amember pro.
Also I have amended the links to open dealdotcom in a new window as I don’t want to lose the visitor from my site.
Thanks for the plugin.

The script is now updated to v0.2 with some fixes like the proper image showing for today and will update properly for everyday (as long as they don’t change their code here).
September 19th, 2007 at 12:35 pm
Have set this up on my blog http://lammo.net, although it looks a bit “stretched” - is there any way to change the height?
September 19th, 2007 at 12:48 pm
dotcomjohn if you center it then it should look okay.
I will most likely add a width feature to v0.3.

September 19th, 2007 at 6:28 pm
DOH!
Even with the version 0.2 update, there are errors.
If you are getting an error in your side bar after placing code in your php file, the correct code to enter is:
September 19th, 2007 at 6:32 pm
DOH DOH….it wouldn’t let me enter the code.

I’m getting a PHP error when I put it in my sidebar. Any ideas?
September 19th, 2007 at 7:39 pm
Whats the error?
September 19th, 2007 at 8:02 pm
Upgrade to the new 0.3 version and it should fix anything wrong.
September 19th, 2007 at 8:38 pm
what’s the “anything”?
I guess I’m wondering what issues have been corrected?
Does everyone need to upgrade?
September 19th, 2007 at 9:59 pm
I’m gonna have to watch the Teli Adlam Video Tutorial in order to do this!
;))

I have been messing with this thing on and off all day long. Lietrally!
Made me dizzy at some points. Literally!
Now that DealDotCom has a new product displaying, the plug-in is now showing a picture as wide as the ocean and wayyyy off screen.
I would recommend deactivating this sucker until they can work out a relationship and understanding with DealDotCom Minions. It appears a picture size standard will have to be implemented between the author and the web site owners.
I’ll be back after the beta guys work this out.
Thanks for the effort Blue.
September 20th, 2007 at 1:28 am
I deactivated mine too once I noticed that.
September 20th, 2007 at 2:06 am
Version 0.4 has been uploaded now to address the image width size.
As it appears there are different variables to iron out we are making tweaks to the plugin to work with all of them.
@dealdot - if you have suggestions or issues just post them to the blog. I wouldn’t want you to hurt yourself
September 20th, 2007 at 3:20 am
I tried posting to your blog, but there are only 2 fields available for me to enter information and it requires three. I keep getting an error saying I need to enter my name and email. The text says name, email and URL, but there are only two fields available. Maybe it’s a Firefox thing, but I can’t submit on your blog.
ZZZZZZZZZZZ
September 20th, 2007 at 7:40 am
Nice plugin, can you do something similar for Bloggers?
September 20th, 2007 at 11:09 am
I like the plugin - I just installed version 0.4 - seems to work fine. I noticed it did not come with any instructions with the download and I read several people were having difficulties so I took the liberty of posting instructions to get this working at

Not Working at all.. I got 2 sidebars at my site http://www.muhammadriduanramli.com/ .. Which one do I enter the code? I entered both sidebars.. Nothing show up. Hmm..
September 20th, 2007 at 1:22 pm
Great Plugin .. I also can not submit a comment to the blufur site.
So Ill plop it here .. maybe someone will have some ideas..
Great Plugin,
However those of us using widgets to create custom side bars are somewhat left out.
How about some code that could be placed in a text widget to call the dealdotcom function? HTML works great in a text plugin, but i tried tge php that gets added to the sidepar and it dont work. even wraped in html.
Im not a programmer so Im clueless on how to make it work in a widget
But maybe someone out there has the brain power
September 20th, 2007 at 4:46 pm
Will the widget work with Semiologic Pro?
September 21st, 2007 at 11:12 am
Hi netwise,
You could try using the Exec-PHP plugin from http://bluesome.net/post/2005/08/18/50/ to be able to run PHP code in your text widget.
I’m only just about to try installing this (dealdotcom) plugin now myself.
September 21st, 2007 at 3:39 pm
Hi again netwise,
Well the Exec-PHP plugin does not get the dealdotcom plugin to work in a text widget :~{
However, I did a quick and dirty modification to the plugin itself that has it working as a widget on one of my blogs (http://emarketing-success.com/home/).
I’ve submitted my changes to the plugin author at the BlueFur.com website so he may include them in a new version at some point.
But if he doesn’t get the plugin widgetized quickly enough for you, just contact me here: http://EZExpertWebTools.com/members/contact.php and I’ll send you my modified version.
Just remember, I’ve only tested on my own blog. I have no idea if it will work generally.

The Samsarin PHP Widget will allow you to use inline php in it’s widget. I’ve tried it out and I was able to display the DealDotCom item in my blog’s sidebar. Here’s the url to the PHP Widget:
